Steve Jarrott is a founding member of the Stocklease team. Since launching, Stocklease has developed an Australia-wide client network, and through an innovative product offering is changing the way Australians see livestock finance.
His knowledge and relationships within the agri industry and ability to explain the lease system in simple terms has been largely responsible for Stocklease becoming a financial supplier to some of Australia’s best known Feedlots and Backgrounders.
After growing up on his family property near Conargo in the Riverina of NSW, Steve completed major studies in agribusiness and economics. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology and is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment with the Securities Institute of Australia.
Stocklease is a livestock leasing business created to enable farmers to finance Cattle Sheep and Pigs through the value adding process. Stocklease was launched to market in January 2006 to a strong response from Australian feedlots and backgrounders producing cattle and sheep. By June 2007 Stocklease will be launching the breeder lease product which will allow up to 5 year principal and interested leases of breeding animals. Stocklease improves cashflow by enabling a livestock enterprise to free up to 95% of capital otherwise invested in livestock and is the market leader in livestock leasing. The business prides itself in supplying a farm business tailored product and surrounding service to the agri industry.

TESTIMONIALS
I think the phone hook up was a huge success. We found the speakers and topic excellent, especially in the current climate. It is very re-assuring to hear from people making decision and getting on with business. Anyway, great idea,
speak to you soon,

Thankyou for organizing the conference yesterday. It is important and very helpful to be reminded of the principles. Also the fact that so many wrestle with the same issues ourselves. Reassuring to know that every body puts on their pants one leg at a time. All the best for the Christmas , New Year and look forward to the next meeting.
Regards,
Raymond Stacey

Thanks for the conference call, great hearing how people recognised the signals in June-July that Summer was going to be tight. We felt a bit lonely selling all our ewes as soon as they were weaned into a falling market. These ewes were my father's breeding which we inherited in February and the decision to sell them was easy but telling him was not.
We've realized our job is selling prime lamb. We thought we had to breed them to do it so had to have ewes. Breeding lambs is not what we are paid for, selling them is. After the KLR school we bought a $5000 stock truck to take to the Katanning Sheep Sale once a week. We are now selling and buying lambs and don't need the ewes. A side effect is how much we are learning about the market from the professional buyers who are there every week.
One thing that has helped this year was hearing the difference between "Good and Bad" decisions and "Right and Wrong". For example if it hasn't rained and you are running out of grass and thre is no rain in the forseeable future, a Good decision is to destock. A Bad decision is to hope it will rain. If against the odds it rains you made the wrong decision.
The last thing was a quote from the Scottish Terratorial Army. "There is no such thing as bad weather only inappropriate clothing. Therefore there is no such thing as drought only inappropriate stocking rates.
Thanks again,
James and Elizabeth, Boxwood Hills,WA

Roger and Jenny Landsberg own and manage Trafalgar, a 33,000ha beef cattle property 60kms SW of Charters Towers. Their 5 children are the 4th generation Landsbergs on the place, Roger's grandfather having bought it in 1913.
Roger and Jenny have a red and grey Brahman stud herd for breeding their own herd bulls and for sale and a commercial Brahman base herd where Limousin and Brangus bulls are used for crossbreeding . They aim to produce 30 to 36 month steers for direct consignment on weight and grade, usually turning off about 500 steers and 4 to 500 females annually.
Roger has been passionate about sustainable management for over 20 years and believes the cornerstone to producing quality beef is the natural resource management of a property, particularly pasture management.
Roger is also heavily involved in the R&D side of the industry and is currently chair of the North QLD Beef Research Committee and a past member of the CRC for Tropical Savannas Advisory committee.
Roger and Jenny also have conducted an eco-tourism enterprise for over 17 years as a sideline and have another enterprise specialising in the mechanical control of woody weeds.
